The American Retrospective presents: Baton Rouge Louisiana! Baton Rouge Retrospective Home Page

Welcome to the American Retrospective, a look back in time to the Twentieth Century, and the many good things that characterized those amazing years.

We focus on architecture, historic preservation, landscapes, nostalgia, photography, postcards and related items that tell the story of the places, and people, that so many of us remember well.

Greetings from Baton Rouge, Louisiana! In particular, this Baton Rouge Retrospective will deal with memories of the Louisiana Capitol City, from the old 1940s motels along Airline Highway to the architecture of LSU to the historic Mississippi River to the re-emerging downtown, and lots of points in between!

We'll look at postcard views of public buildings, schools, hospitals, railroad stations, and hotels & motels. We'll explore LSU and its classic buildings, and take a look at early images of Huey Long's skyscraper Capitol building.

And we'll be including photographic memories as well, showing relics and landmarks of the past still existing in Baton Rouge in the late 20th Century.
